2009 Swine Flu Outbreak!

Swine Flu cases here in the US are increasing. As of last May 4, 2009 the total reported cases are 279. You can refer to this site for the U.S. Human Cases of H1N1 Flu Infection. They show the list of state and number of cases in each state. So far here in Maryland there are only 4 cases reported. The highest number of Swine Flue case confirmed is in NY which currently has 73 cases.

According by Wikipedia the 2009 Flue outbreak in human is due to a new nervous tension of influenza A virus subtype H1N1 that contains genes most closely related to swine influenza. This strain can be passed on from human to human, and causes the typical symptoms of influenza.

The spreads of the virus is through coughing or sneezing and people touching something with the virus on it and then touching their own nose or mouth. Advice to the prevent the spread among humans are by regular washing of hands with soap and water or with alcohol-based hand sanitizers, particularly after being out in public.
