Our Visit to the City that Never Sleeps (New York)

Posted in , ,

Last May 21 we went to Parsippany, New Jersey since I have an appointment with SetFocus by May 22. They offered me a contract option for Business Intelligence Analyst position after I passed their Technical Interview and Technical exam. Setfocus shouldered all our expenses going there and the hotel for two days. We stayed in Hampton Hilton Hotel at New York from May 21 to May 24.

A day after our appointment from SetFocus, we decided to visit Manhattan, New York. We took Train from Morris Plain, NJ to Manhattan, NY. It took 2 hours and 30 minutes. When we arrived at Manhattan we walked from Penn Station to the Battery Park to see the entire city we passed the Ground Zero (remember 9/11 attacked). They currently constructing the World Trade Memorial Center that they are planning to open by 2011 (Ten years after the terrible terrorist attacked).

After we took lots of pictures on that area we went to Battery Park (the park is so nice). Our original plan was to visit also the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island which we need to take the New York Water Taxi from Battery Park. We got so upset the line was so long when we arrived in the area where we will get the ticket. Plus, there only limited number of daily Statue of Liberty tickets were available to purchase on a walk-in basis (we didn’t know this after we arrived there) and the space were already filled up when we arrived. We plan that next time we need to get in there for at least 7am just to get the limited ticket. I will tell you more on my next post about the other places that we visited in Manhattan, NY. One day is not enough to visit all the tourist spots in that city.
