Last weekend we went camping for three days with our church. The group usually has a camping trip every summer. It was fun. I remember that last year we had it around June 20-22 and it was in the Frederick Area. This year it was at Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone, MD which is about an hour drive from Frederick, MD.Rocky Gap State Park is 3,000 acres surrounded with carpeted mountains. They have this nice lake where you can go kayaking, fishing, and there is also an area where you can swim. One unique features of this park is that they have cabins that can accommodate up to 4 people and they also have an Easter Hill Chalet that has 3 bedrooms that can accommodate up to eight people. They even have Group grounds where pets are allowed. Unfortunately we booked late so we were not able to get one. I think it would be a cool idea to bring Tiggy (our dog) with us.
We rented a campsite near the area where our church people served the meals. The three day camping trip was fun even though it was too cold for me during the nights. Camping will not be real if you don’t have a campfire. My husband and my brother in-law gathered some wood to use. We had a campfire on the second day since it was raining the first evening and it’s hard to make a fire in the rain.
Our Church Group did a very good job in organizing the event and the food that they served was really great. We had also service on Saturday evening and Sunday morning after breakfast.
