Removal of the Conditional Status

Posted in ,

Last month we submitted all the papers that USCIS needed for the removal of my conditional status. We checked all the papers many times and made sure that we didn’t forget anything. Guess what, we forgot to include the check in the package. My husband and I decided to send the check a day after we submitted the papers (thinking that they may put it together, the check and the package). But even though they were just one day apart still USCIS sent back our package with the notice that they cannot process the papers without the check (oh well, we sent back the package together with a new check on the same day that they sent back the package). We received the original check back two days later. Two weeks later I received the first notice from USCIS that my conditional status is extended for one year (while they will process my 10 years residency). Yesterday, I received the second notice from USCIS about my biometric appointment. Unfortunately my husband is not available by that time (since he will be my personal driver..hehehe). So we are now trying to reschedule it. Based on the information that I got from this usually takes 2-4 weeks after the day of appointment. Hopefully things will go well. We are planning to go to their office and have a walk-in visit.
